Volunteers are also expected to represent Furrever Friends and themselves in a professional and respectful manner.
Once you complete the volunteer application, our Volunteer Coordinator will process it. If approved, you will recieve an email inviting you to sign up for training.
Training is mandatory. At training, new volunteers will learn about opening shifts, social shifts, and closing shifts at our Deptford PetSmart Adoption Center. You will also learn about the goals, policies, and procedures of FFRV, as well as the various volunteer opportunities available.
All trainings are held at our Deptford PetSmart Adoption Center, located at 2000 Clements Bridge Rd, Deptford, NJ.
Fostering a cat is a volunteer-at-home experience that helps us keep space available at the adoption center and also gives you a chance to save lives. Animals that need foster homes include: kittens under 12 weeks, pregnant or nursing cats, cats recovering from injuries or surgeries, senior cats and cats with special needs. During the application process you can specify what you feel comfortable fostering. For example bottle-fed kittens, older animals, special needs, etc.
How long will I be fostering a pet?
Fostering can take anywhere from a few days to a few months; it's dependant on the individual animal that you are fostering. You do not need prior experience and it's okay if you have pets at home as long as they're up to date on all of their shots and are friendly.
How much does it cost?
There is no fee to become a foster, however you are responsible for providing food, litter, toys and love for the cats in your care.
Furrever Friends covers all medical expenses for the fosters in your care. We will try to provide you with donated food and enrichment, when available. The Foster Team wants to make sure that your foster experience is a positive, rewarding experience! We do our best to meet the needs of both the foster animal and your family.
