Every animal saved is a victory.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all-volunteer, no-kill, foster based cat rescue that strives to save the lives of homeless animals. We have no paid staff; we receive no state or government funding. We operate entirely on donations from caring individuals such as yourself, adoption fees and fundraising events. And, because Furrever Friends Rescue & Volunteers, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your cash and item donations are tax-deductible.
We are No-Kill
Although our operation is small, each and every homeless pet in our program receives the absolute best care possible until a furrever home can be found. We do not euthanize any of the animals in our care simply to make room for new ones. Through our adoption center and foster homes, we provide a safe environment for the cats in our care until they are adopted.

Our volunteers work hard to:
- Provide warm, loving care in private homes until a furrever family can be found (known as “foster care”)
- Spay/neuter, vaccinate, and microchip pets prior to adoption to help control pet overpopulation
- Find safe, carefully-screened furrever homes for adoptable animals in our care
- Raise funds through special events and fundraisers to cover veterinary and food costs
Sadly, Furrever Friends Rescue and Volunteers, Inc. has been told to vacate the PetSmart Adoption Center that we have occupied for the past 17 years. As of November 30, 2025, we will not have any place to showcase adoptable cats.
The reasoning behind this action is not totally clear to us. We do know that the number of adoptions we have had this year is a factor. For whatever reason, the PetSmart adoption registration app that we were required to use had only registered 77 adoptions, even though we had 107. But our argument that their app was incorrect fell on deaf ears. This shows that the decision was made well in advance of our notification and that the numbers were not the only factor. We have not been informed of the other factors.
We are not the only organization to lose a PetSmart Adoption Center in recent months. It is happening all over the country and in Canada. Please share this post so more people are aware of what’s happening.
We would like to thank all of our current and past volunteers and fosters for their contributions to making our adoption center a success over the last 17 years. Without all of you, we would not have been able to save so many lives.
This is not the end; we will continue with fundraisers and, hopefully, find a new showcase location very soon. Please share our posts as much as you can, donate, and, if you are able, apply to become one of our loved foster homes.
